Former Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero scored in the long-delayed unofficial Barcelona debut on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old Aguero had to be out due to a calf injury that he sustained shortly before the start of the season. The 2021 Copa America winner signed a two-year deal with Argentina in May and came on a free transfer to end a decades-long relationship with Sky Blues.
The ex-Atletico Madrid star made a gentle – and productive – return to the action this midweek. He was hooked shortly after the net during a 30-minute cameo against lower division UE Cornella that ended in a 2-2 draw at Barca’s training ground.
Agüero hopes to be available in La Liga for his competitive bout against Valencia on Sunday.
