Get ready to run for the oceans with Adidas and Parley on the Palm Jumeirah

On May 28th, adidas x Parley Run for the Oceans returned for a fourth year, continuing its commitment to urgently tackling the potentially devastating pollution of the oceans from plastic waste.

In support of this global campaign, adidas unveiled a floating walkway on the waters of The Pointe, an iconic waterfront dining and entertainment destination on Palm Jumeirah. The floating lane extends over 250 m above the water and is accessible from the east side of The Pointe.

In order to enter the catwalk, passers-by are asked to scan a QR code, which is displayed at the registration station at the entrance to the catwalk and which directs them to the adidas Running app Take the Run For Take part in The Oceans Challenge and start it in The Pointe. Early registrations are encouraged to win a free Run for the Oceans t-shirt as supplies are limited.

There are educational touchpoints along the sidewalk where passers-by can learn more about adidas and the Parley movement. Additionally, the touchpoints will help them better understand the importance of banding together to end plastic pollution and the impact each mile walked can have.

The walkway is open to the public from 6:00 p.m. to midnight every day, and if you’re lucky, you can get an up-close look at the palm fountain show. To make your experience extraordinary, there is an adidas announcement every hour after the music fountain with a spectacular custom show.

adidas and Nakheel are no strangers to promoting sustainability. Nakheel has committed to a variety of sustainability initiatives in its developments. Since 2015, adidas has made more than 30 million pairs of shoes with Parley Ocean Plastic – plastic waste that is collected on beaches and coastal communities to prevent it from polluting the oceans. The built walkway underscores adidas and Nakheel’s efforts to work closely together for a more sustainable Dubai.

Commenting on the initiative, Gail Sangster, Assets Director at Nakheel, said: “We are very excited to be hosting this incredible initiative at The Pointe to raise awareness of plastic pollution and inspire residents to become active changemakers in this area . In line with our ongoing sustainability efforts, Run for the Oceans is another great addition to an exciting array of sustainable initiatives such as monthly beach cleanings at The Pointe, Nakheels community cleanings in parks and natural areas, and our unwavering efforts to preserve marine life in our oceans and protected areas. “

Unite and run for the oceans from May 28th to June 8th by registering via the adidas Running App and tracking your runs. For every kilometer run, adidas cleans the equivalent of 10 plastic bottles up to a maximum of 500,000 pounds. Further information and registration at
