Research into neurodegeneration with immune profiling

The adaptive immune system can have beneficial and deleterious effects on the central nervous system (CNS), causing mild cognitive impairment and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. The immune profile provides valuable insights into the underlying disease mechanisms and the effects of unique immune cell signatures on neurodegeneration. Researchers are using the single-cell immune profile to study gene expression and changes in the immune repertoire in the CNS, including the antigen-specific clonal expansion of CD8+ T cells.
