The 8th edition of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA) International Jumping Cup started yesterday at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
A veterinary examination to determine the health and physical fitness of the horses was the first step carried out on Thursday morning.
In the afternoon 90 drivers took part in three categories:
Category 1 – CSIYH1 * with the prize money of AED 30,000 and sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club
Category 2 – CSIJ-A with the prize money of AED 20,000 and sponsored by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy
Category 3 – NATIONALS with a purse of AED 20,000 and sponsored by UAEEF – UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation.
The competition began with (CSIYH1 *) – (6YO / 125CM) and (7YO / 130cm) with prizes worth AED 30,000 awarded by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club. 18 drivers took part, 6 of which made a clear lap.
It all came down to the timing when Chadi Ghraib from Syria took first place on “Elite De Point” (7YO) with a time of 58.33 seconds. Tina Lund from Denmark took second place with a time of 61.92 seconds on “Even Flo HBR” (7YO) and Salem Ahmed al-Suwaidi from the United Arab Emirates with “Cooper” (6YO) with a time of 64.81 Seconds an impressive third place
The second category (CSIJ-A) of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy comprised 18 riders, with Eisa Omran Al Owais from the United Arab Emirates winning first place with a time of 59.18 seconds and Sheikh Khalid Sultan Khalid Sultan Alqassimi from the United Arab Emirates won second place with a time of 61.10 seconds and UAE’s Eisa Omran Al Owais won third place with a time of 61.94
Chadi Ghraib, the first place in the category (CSIYH1 *), commented on his victory as follows: “I am very happy and delighted that I have returned and can participate in this international cup, which is being held here in Abu Dhabi for the eighth time. The level of competition has improved significantly, and that is the result of continuous training and preparation. I was also impressed with the organization of the event and the ability to accommodate large numbers of drivers under strict and safety precautions. A big thank you to the organizing committee and I wish the participating drivers all the best. “
HE Amal Abdul Qadir Al-Afifi, FBMA Board Member, said: “The Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy has always been interested in supporting show jumping, improving its status and emphasizing its importance. It is an integral part of our culture and identity, without a doubt, that the establishment of the eighth edition of the FBMA International Show Jumping Cup is a clear translation of the message and vision of good leadership. The event invests in empowering new generations in the UAE to compete in the sports of our ancestors and preserve the great legacy they left us. “
She continued: “The Emirates were and are efficient and professional in organizing riding championships at the highest level. In these extraordinary circumstances, we will be punctually and proactively prepared for a special and successful eighth edition. Ensuring the safety of all participants by applying the most rigorously adopted health protocol while observing precautionary measures was an important priority. We take this opportunity to thank all organizers and all supporting partners from various government and private departments and agencies. “
The event will include another series of competitions on Friday and Saturday where drivers compete in different categories for their major trophies. No members of the public are allowed to attend and a number of measures have been taken to keep the show safe.
Face covering was mandatory for all course hikes and venues, and several disinfection stations were installed on the premises.

The trophy is held under the auspices of HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Union of Women (GWU), Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Chairperson of the Supreme Maternity and Childhood Council. and under the direction of HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairwoman of Fatima Bint Mubarak women’s sports academy and president of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain women’s clubs.
The eighth FBMA International Show Jumping Cup is supported by the strategic partners.
