A petition calling for Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to be denied re-entry to Earth after his space flight next month has garnered thousands of signatures online.
Mr Bezos posted a video on his Instagram account on June 7th to announce that he will board a suborbital flight with his brother Mark Bezos on July 20th. He said, “I’ve dreamed of going into space since I was five years old. On July 20th I will take this trip with my brother. The greatest adventure with my best friend. “
The Change.org petition, launched by Jose Ortiz about a week ago, has more than 12,000 signatures as of 12:20 p.m. ET Thursday.
The petition, jokingly addressed to the commercial space company Blue Origin, said, “The fate of humanity is in your hands.”
Bezos, the richest man in the world, has a fortune of around $ 186 billion. The petition states, “Jeff Bezos is actually Lex Luthor, disguised as the alleged owner of a super successful online retail store.”
“He’s actually an evil overlord who seeks world domination. We have known that for years, ”says the petition. Lex Luthor is a fictional supervillain who appears in DC Comics.
Mr Bezos, 57, also takes two winners of mystery auctions to space travel. Last week, Blue Origin sold the first seat on its maiden voyage for $ 28 million. The company did not disclose the name of the winner of the auction. Around 7,600 people from 159 countries had signed up for the space seat, according to a statement from Blue Origin.
The proceeds from the auction will go to Blue Origin’s Club for the Future MINT education foundation.
The Blue Origin space flight will emerge from a desert in western Texas. An autonomous rocket will propel the four passengers across the line that defines the boundary between earth and space. The petition asked for Bezos’ space trip to be extended indefinitely.
It states: “Jeff worked with the Epsteins and the Knights Templar and the Freemasons to take control of the whole world. He is also in bed with the flat earth deniers; This is the only way they can allow him to leave the atmosphere. In the meantime, our government stands by and lets it happen. “
“This could be our last chance before they activate the 5G microchips and do a mass takeover,” she added.
Meanwhile it is New York Times in a damning investigation recently uncovered conditions in Amazon. The company entered controversy after it became known that workers allegedly had to urinate in bottles because they could not take a toilet break.
In a rare public apology, Amazon admitted that the retail giant’s employees urinated in bottles days after rejecting reports claiming the same thing.
Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have loudly criticized the company’s business and labor practices.
ProPublica received confidential tax documents filed with the Internal Revenue Service and found that Mr. Bezos had not paid federal income taxes in 2007 and again in 2011.
A user on Instagram commented on Mr. Bezos’ video announcement about his space travel: “Ladies and gentlemen, that’s why you want to be a billionaire !!!!”
