UAE Cricket News :: ADIB Staff Cricket Cup :: DTS Lions and Trade Cheetas win the two remaining quarter-finals

The ADIB Staff Cricket Cup returned with a bang on Friday as the final two spots for the quarter-finals were booked by DTS Lions and Trade Cheetas.

DTS Lions have surpassed Pool Five with a full nine points from their three games after an exciting final ball win against Prime 11.

It was a head-to-head shootout for first place in the group with both teams coming in due to unbeaten campaigns. In the end, it was the DTS Lions who held their nerve to get a win in two runs.

Prime 11 had set a daunting goal of 94 to win in 10 overs but ended up excruciatingly close to the goal as they were limited to 91-6.

While the loss to DTS Lions sealed their fate in the tournament, Prime 11 ended their campaign with a consolation win thanks to a loss to FCD Challengers. The challengers’ decision to withdraw from the tournament also meant IT hawks were getting their first points of the tournament.

In Pool Seven’s games at the adjacent Oval Two at Zayed Cricket Stadium, Trade Cheetas topped the charts with three wins in as many games.

The Cheetas proved too good for Digital Qalandars in a one-sided encounter in which they came home to a win with six wickets. After the Qalandars were limited to just 52-5 in their 10 overs, the Cheetas sailed to an all-out win and loss of a lone wicket in just six overs.

Earlier in the day, the Qalandars had suffered a similar fate after losing 11 22 times to United. When they hit a goal of 75 to win, they could only muster 52-6 in their 10 overs.

United 11 claimed a second win later the day after ERM team retired. Despite those two wins, United 11 only managed to finish second in the ground after losing to Trade Cheetas in an earlier round.

The ADIB Staff Cricket Cup will celebrate its grand finale on February 12th in Abu Dhabi. The action-packed day begins with the four quarter-finals.

DTS XI will face DSU Daredevils in the first quarterfinals, while DTS Lions will face group risk. Card United Eleven Lock Horns with Trail Blazers, while ADIMAC Tigers face Trade Cheetas in the other quarter-finals.
